Who will be this years David Sneddon? That's the question everyone will be asking this Sunday night in Craigmillar.

Organisers of the Edinburgh's Peoples Festival have announced the line up of entertainers for it's opening night at the Jack Kane Centre. Last year David Sneddon performed there before going on to win BBC tv's 'Fame Academy'.

People's Festival spokesman Colin Fox told us he is 'thrilled to bits' at the wide range of acts appearing at this years celebration.

'We have been overwhelmed by the interest in the Edinburgh People's Festival. We have a wide array of talented performers assembled this Sunday at the Jack Kane Centre. More than seventeen artists/groups will take to the stage at the People's Festival opening night extravaganza.

Our compere for the evening, Edinburgh actor Tom Freeman, whose rendition of 'Viva Craigmillar' last year brought the house down, will introduce singers, comics, actors, musicians and dancers..'

Mr Freeman gave a flavour of the line up: 'We have a classical string quartet Capriccio to welcome our guests. Among a host of easy listening singers will be former Wildcat frontman Dave Anderson, folk songstress Gilly Hewitt, a Colombian/Chilean combo, rock from Clova and musical tributes to Hamish Henderson and Ewan McColl.

There will be theatre with extracts from 'Grease Ya Radge' by the Craigmillar Youth theatre and 'Craigmillar Now..

Add in award winning comics Brendan Moohan and John Scott, dance/ physical theatreand poetry from Nicky Melville and Celia Grainger and you have quite an evening, an extravaganza in fact.'

All this and much more, seventeen acts in total. And all for just £2.'

As well as performance there will be the first chance to see the latest work of acclaimed Edinburgh painter Mark I'anson. Mark has won wide praise for his exhibition 'Dream Team' currently running at the National Portrait Gallery. And there will be an exhibition of up and coming East Lothian photographer Jackie Morton's 'Women at Work'.

Tickets for the Edinburgh People's Festival opening night gala are available on the door.

The entertainment begins at 7.30pm.
